About the Opportunity:
The JAVA SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER is responsible for leading the development and testing of a highly scalable, geo-distributed, and high-performance database solution. This role focuses on enhancing system scalability, reliability, and performance, with an emphasis on distributed software solutions in both on-premise and cloud environments. The position involves managing software engineers and contributing to critical aspects such as replication, sharding, concurrency, and performance optimization to improve the database system's resilience and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
Develop and test scalable, geo-distributed database solutions.
Lead and manage a team of software engineers.
Ensure database system scalability, performance, and reliability.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and implement new features.
Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues in distributed systems.
Profile, debug, and optimize performance using various tools.
Maintain clean and reviewable code using Git.
Optimize data structures for high-intensity data access scenarios.
Implement efficient data storage and network transmission methods, including failure handling and recovery.
Develop and integrate algorithms to ensure high cluster availability.
Investigate and debug data consistency algorithm flaws in multi-node clusters.
Requirements:
Minimum 4 years of Java programming experience.
Deep understanding of concurrency in Java and Java Memory Model or equivalent concurrency models.
Strong knowledge of Java SE, including IO and JVM internals.
Experience with SQL databases.
Skilled in troubleshooting Java applications and/or databases.
Demonstrated leadership, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Experience working effectively in fast-paced, collaborative environments.
Deep knowledge of SQL and distributed systems concepts such as Raft, MVCC, and ACID.
Understanding of MVCC, P2PL, Snapshot Isolation, and REPEATABLE READ.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with NoSQL and distributed databases.
Background in building high-load distributed systems and algorithms.
Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and public cloud platforms (AWS, GCE, Azure).
Contributions to open source, automation skills, or expertise in performance/load testing.
Active use of AI technologies.
Pay Range and Compensation Package:
Salary Range: 2,200.00 - 5,400.00 per year (gross)
The starting salary will be commensurate with the candidate's skills, qualifications, and relevant experience.
