Sports Excitement is building a global sports community platform that connects athletes, families, and fans in one interactive digital space. Designed as a sports-focused social network, it will enable users to discover teams, leagues, and opportunities while engaging with sports content tailored to their interests. The platform will streamline how parents sign up their children for sports, making participation easier and more accessible. Sports Excitement will be free to download, generating revenue through advertising and premium features that help users expand their network. With a website launching soon and an app to follow, the company is positioned to fill a unique niche in the sports industry by uniting the sports community worldwide.
Internship Overview
The UX Researcher Internship at Sports Excitement is a remote, unpaid, three-month learning opportunity designed for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in user research within a sports technology environment.
Interns will work with a designated supervisor and collaborate with product, UX/UI design, and development team members on supervised research projects involving user needs, behaviors, motivations, and usability.
The internship is intended to provide hands-on experience with qualitative and quantitative research methods while helping participants strengthen their skills in research planning, participant engagement, data synthesis, user-centered design, and cross-functional collaboration.
Responsibilities & Learning Opportunities
Assist with planning and conducting user research activities, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitive research.
Support participant recruitment and help coordinate research sessions with relevant user groups such as athletes, parents, families, and sports fans.
Help prepare interview guides, survey questions, usability testing materials, and other research documentation.
Observe and document user behaviors, needs, motivations, pain points, and feedback.
Assist with organizing and analyzing qualitative and quantitative research data to identify patterns and recurring themes.
Support the translation of research findings into clear insights and actionable recommendations for product and design teams.
Contribute to the development of user personas, journey maps, research summaries, and other UX research deliverables.
Collaborate with UX/UI designers, product team members, and other stakeholders to help inform user flows, product features, and design decisions.
Assist with documenting research findings and maintaining organized research materials and shared documentation.
Participate in research reviews, design discussions, feedback sessions, and other learning opportunities throughout the internship.
Gain exposure to how UX research contributes to product strategy, usability, customer discovery, and iterative product development.
Qualifications
Foundational knowledge of UX research methods, including interviews, surveys, usability testing, and competitive analysis.
Basic understanding of user-centered design principles and the role of research in digital product development.
Ability to organize research activities, document observations, and communicate findings clearly.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to ask neutral questions, listen actively, and summarize research findings.
Curiosity about user behavior and an interest in understanding the reasons behind user needs, decisions, and pain points.
Strong attention to detail, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote, cross-functional environment.
Comfort using video conferencing, online survey tools, collaborative platforms, shared documents, or similar remote research tools.
Relevant coursework, training, personal projects, portfolio work, volunteer experience, or other practical experience in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, UX/UI Design, Information Science, Product Design, Research, Behavioral Science, or a related field is welcomed.
Interest in sports, technology, digital communities, social platforms, or consumer-facing products is a plus.

Academic Credit & School Verification
Academic credit may be available depending on the requirements and approval of the intern’s college or university. Candidates are responsible for confirming eligibility and academic-credit requirements directly with their educational institution.
Sports Excitement can support reasonable internship verification requirements from participating educational institutions. Depending on the school’s requirements, this may include confirmation of company information, internship dates, expected weekly hours, supervisor information, internship responsibilities, and verification of participation by email or other required documentation.
Any academic credit is awarded solely by the intern’s educational institution and is not guaranteed by Sports Excitement.
Internship Structure
This internship is expected to last approximately three months, with a commitment of approximately 20 hours per week.
Interns will have an assigned supervisor and will participate remotely. Scheduling and internship responsibilities may be coordinated with the intern and supervisor based on project needs and, when applicable, academic requirements.
