About the role
Description supplied by the original job listing.
Company Description Regal Intel is focused on closing the gap between advanced technology and everyday clinical practice, so no patient remains undiagnosed due to data scarcity. The organization tackles rare, complex, and fast-progressing (“avid”) diseases that often fall outside the reach of conventional AI and clinical workflows, particularly in rural health networks. Through Project JANUS, Regal Intel uses sovereign neuro-symbolic AI and high-fidelity synthetic patient twins to turn fragmented real-world data into robust, regulatory-grade evidence while preventing AI hallucinations. Its hardware-attested federated learning infrastructure ensures protected health information never leaves hospital firewalls, maintaining full data sovereignty. As a mission-driven, non-profit team, Regal Intel is dedicated solely to clinical discovery and patient outcomes, not commercial interests.
Role Description The Sr. Hardware Engineer will design, develop, and optimize hardware solutions that support Regal Intel’s secure federated learning and clinical AI infrastructure in a full-time, remote role. Day-to-day responsibilities include architecting hardware platforms, creating and reviewing circuit designs, and driving electronics hardware design from concept through prototyping, testing, and integration. The engineer will collaborate with software, security, and clinical data teams to ensure hardware systems meet performance, reliability, and regulatory requirements for healthcare environments. The role also involves performing hardware validation and debugging, documenting specifications and design decisions, and contributing to continuous improvement of hardware-attestation and data-protection mechanisms. This position requires proactive communication, ownership of complex technical challenges, and the ability to mentor other team members in best practices for hardware engineering.
