Senior Shopify Web Developer
Enok SEO is looking for a senior web developer who can build, improve, and maintain high-performing Shopify websites for established ecommerce brands.
This is a remote contract role. We need someone who is strong technically, understands how development affects SEO and conversion, and knows how to use AI intelligently to work faster and produce better results.
What You’ll Do
Build and improve Shopify websites, themes, templates, and sections
Develop custom Shopify functionality using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Shopify APIs
Improve site speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, accessibility, and technical SEO
Troubleshoot theme, app, tracking, and integration issues
Implement designs and SEO recommendations accurately
Improve product, collection, navigation, content, and conversion-focused experiences
Integrate third-party apps, APIs, analytics, and ecommerce tools
Maintain clean, organized, documented code
Use Git and modern development workflows to manage changes safely
Review existing sites and identify technical opportunities or problems
Work directly with our SEO, content, design, and strategy teams
What We’re Looking For
Strong experience with:
Shopify and Shopify theme development
Liquid
HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Responsive development
Git and version control
Shopify APIs and app integrations
Site performance optimization
Technical SEO fundamentals
Accessibility and cross-browser compatibility
Debugging and QA
Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, headless Shopify, Shopify Hydrogen, databases, back-end development, or custom app development is valuable but not required for every project.
AI Should Be Part of Your Workflow, But You Have to Know How to Write Code
We are specifically looking for a developer who knows how to use AI as a practical development tool.
You should be comfortable using tools such as ChatGPT, Codex, Claude, Cursor, or similar systems to:
Research and diagnose technical problems
Write and refactor code
Review code and catch problems
Build prototypes faster
Generate tests and documentation
Analyze large codebases
Automate repetitive development work
Improve debugging and QA
Explore multiple implementation approaches quickly
We do not want someone who blindly copies AI-generated code.
We want a developer who understands the underlying technology well enough to direct AI, verify its work, and use it to increase both quality and output. You have to know how to write code and have experience as a web developer before the AI era (pre-2023).
