We are a pre-seed startup and are looking for a Junior Software Engineer to join us at the beginning of the journey.
The Role
As a Software Engineer and part of the founding team, you'll have significant ownership over the technology that powers GenNXT.
You'll work closely with the founder to design, build, and ship products that bring AI into the life insurance workflow—from understanding client and financial data, to identifying insurance needs, to helping advisors navigate the application and underwriting process.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys moving quickly, solving ambiguous problems, and building products from the ground up.
You won't just be implementing specifications. You'll help determine what we build, how we build it, and how we scale it.
What You'll Do
Build and ship core product features across the GenNXT platform
Design and develop APIs, backend services, and user-facing applications
Build AI-powered workflows and agentic systems that automate complex insurance processes
Work with structured and unstructured financial and insurance data
Design and maintain databases and data models
Integrate with third-party APIs, insurance carriers, data providers, and other financial infrastructure
Build reliable systems for handling sensitive financial information
Work closely with the founders, product, and insurance teams to translate customer problems into technology
Establish engineering practices, architecture, and infrastructure as the company grows
Move quickly from prototype → production while maintaining high standards for reliability and security
What We're Looking For
3–4 years of professional software engineering experience
Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience building production systems
Experience developing backend services and APIs
Comfortable working across the stack and taking a feature from idea to production
Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language
Experience working with relational databases and data modeling
Comfortable working in an early-stage environment where priorities can change quickly
Strong product instincts and a bias toward action
Ability to operate independently while collaborating closely with a small team
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Great If You Have
These aren't requirements, but we'd love to see experience with:
AI agents / agentic workflows / LLM applications
Fintech, insurtech, banking, wealth management, or other financial services
Building applications that work with complex financial data
PostgreSQL or other relational databases
Python and/or TypeScript
Modern frontend frameworks such as React
Cloud infrastructure and deployment
API integrations and third-party platforms
Experience working with regulated or highly sensitive data
Experience at an early-stage startup

Competitive salary and meaningful early-stage equity. Flexibility to start in a part-time contract role.
