Position Summary
Calculated Hire is in search of a Senior Analytics Developer for our Fortune 100 Financial Services company. You will be hands-on, converting existing SAS-based analytics, reporting, ETL, and automation processes into Python solutions operating within an enterprise Anaconda environment.
The ideal candidate will be an advanced Python developer with strong SAS programming experience. The individual must be able to independently analyze existing SAS processes, understand their end-to-end business and technical logic, and recreate that functionality in well-structured, efficient/modular, and supportable Python code.
This is primarily a technical delivery role. The individual will work closely with project leads, internal process owners, and technology partners.
Key Responsibilities
SAS Migration & Modernization
Analyze, document, and migrate existing SAS-based reporting packages, analytic processes, ETL, and automation processes into Python in an enterprise Anaconda environment.
Validate migrated outputs to ensure consistency, accuracy, and business acceptance.
Escalate unclear business logic or technical constraints to the appropriate internal process owner(s).
Support enterprise efforts to decommission SAS while minimizing operational disruption.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and streamline reporting processes during migration activities.
Python Development and Conversion
Design and develop Python-based replacements for existing SAS processes within the Anaconda environment.
Translate SAS data transformation, analytical, reporting, and automation logic into efficient and maintainable Python code.
Build modular, reusable, and well-documented Python components rather than line-by-line code translation.
Use appropriate Python libraries for data processing, analysis, file creation, database interaction, and workflow execution.
Develop solutions that can process large datasets reliably within the available enterprise environment.
Optimize Python code and SQL queries where needed to improve performance without changing approved business logic.
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
Collaborate with project leads, process owners, and technology stakeholders to gather and document requirements. This role will work closely with internal project leads and migration teams throughout the transformation lifecycle.
Participate in validation sessions and support internal stakeholders through testing and business acceptance activities.
Communicate status updates, recommendations, and/or constraints to project leadership and team members.
Create process documentation, report specifications, data mappings, and migration artifacts.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 5+ years of experience in reporting, analytics, business intelligence, data management, or data engineering environments.
Advanced-level Python development experience developing analytical, reporting, ETL, and automation processes using large and complex datasets.
Experience creating modular, maintainable, and production-ready Python code.
Demonstrated experience developing Python-based analytics, reporting, ETL, and automation solutions using pandas, SQL, custom functions, and related data-processing libraries.
Strong SAS programming experience with the ability to understand, troubleshoot, and reconstruct complex legacy analytical and reporting processes:
Complex SQL/PROC SQL queries and DATA Steps
Batch and automated SAS processes in a Unix environment
SAS analytical and reporting procedures (ODS, Proc Tabulate, Proc Summary, etc)
SAS macros
Demonstrated experience converting SAS programs or comparable legacy analytical processes into Python.
Strong SQL skills, including complex joins, data transformations, query optimization, and data validation.
Experience reviewing and validating migrated outputs against legacy source systems through reconciliation and testing.
Ability to work independently, manage assigned conversion work, and communicate/escalate technical issues clearly to project leads and process owners.
Experience in banking, lending, financial services, or another regulated industry.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with enterprise-managed Anaconda environments.
Experience with Microsoft Power BI or other visualization tools.
Prior experience migrating SAS processes to Python.
Prior experience with mortgage, home equity, consumer lending, or portfolio analytics data.
Experience with data governance and reporting controls within regulated environments.
Experience with GitHub and GitHub Copilot.
