Position Summary
This is a hands-on, full-stack role with real depth on the frontend. Our client's stack centers on Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and shadcn/ui, running on AWS, Vercel, and Cloudflare. You'll be joining a lean, high-trust engineering team where your decisions carry real weight, not just implementation, but the direction itself.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Drive build-vs-buy and major architecture/migration decisions, and be able to speak to the tradeoffs, not just the execution.
Own technical documentation as a real deliverable, design docs, runbooks, and architecture decision records, not an afterthought.
Lead on disaster recovery and incident response, including writing and executing DR plans.
Bring security thinking beyond a checklist: threat modeling, access control design, and leading security reviews.
Solve real scalability problems, whether that's traffic spikes, data growth, or architecture that needs to evolve under real-world pressure.
Be the person the team turns to for technical direction, while staying genuinely hands-on in the codebase.
Education and Experience
BSCS or equivalent technical degree preferred
7-10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including meaningful experience operating at the Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent level
Deep, production experience with Next.js, React, Tailwind CSS, and a modern cloud stack (AWS, Vercel, Cloudflare, or similar)
A track record of driving specific technical decisions, not just participating in them, regardless of your current title
Strong instincts around documentation, security, and operational resilience
Comfortable operating at a senior/staff level of scope even if your title hasn't caught up yet.
