AU Senior Accountant - Australian Public Practice (Above Market Rate | Remote | FREE AI Certification)
Philippines | 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM PHT | Monday to Friday
You're a genuine senior accountant who works through a file, not just the transactions in it. In this role, you'll join a Melbourne-based Accounting & Tax team and independently manage Australian accounting and tax jobs from start to finish for a broad mix of business and private clients.
You'll prepare the financial statements, tax returns, and workpapers, spot the issues that need attention, and hand over a well-prepared job to the Australian team for review. If you enjoy owning your files, meeting deadlines with care, and producing work that comes back with few review points, this role is built for you.
YOU'RE LIKELY A STRONG FIT IF YOU HAVE
Solid, senior-level Australian public practice accounting experience, beyond transactional bookkeeping or basic compliance
Strong hands-on experience preparing Australian financial statements and income tax returns
Experience working across companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation principles
Hands-on experience with BAS, IAS, tax reconciliations, workpapers, and year-end compliance
Strong working knowledge of Xero
Practical experience using Xero Practice Manager (XPM)
The ability to manage and complete assigned client jobs independently, with minimal supervision
Strong attention to detail and files that need minimal review adjustments
Strong written and verbal English communication skills
The ability to manage competing deadlines and raise questions or issues early
STRONG SIGNALS
Philippine CPA qualification (preferred, not required)
Experience with BGL 360 (training can be provided)
Experience with FYI (training can be provided)
SMSF exposure
Experience with Division 7A, CGT, FBT, and trust distributions
Tax planning exposure
CPA Australia or CA ANZ studies or qualification
RESPONSIBILITY PILLARS
End-to-End Job Ownership
You own your assigned client jobs from commencement through completion, ready for review.
Manage assigned client jobs independently and submit completed work to the Australian team for review
Prepare annual financial statements for Australian entities
Prepare Australian income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships, and individuals
Complete year-end accounting and taxation compliance work
Tax Compliance, Workpapers, and File Quality
You ensure every file is accurate, well supported, and prepared to a high standard.
Prepare BAS, IAS, tax reconciliations, workpapers, and supporting schedules
Review bookkeeping files and identify accounting or taxation issues requiring attention
Assist with tax planning and other compliance-related matters
Maintain accuracy and quality across multiple jobs and competing deadlines
Team Communication and Support
You keep the Australian team informed and your jobs moving.
Communicate clearly about queries, outstanding information, technical matters, and job progress
Raise issues early so files stay on track
Assist with junior accountant work where required, while your main focus stays on completing and owning your assigned jobs
