Head of Direct Sales — Wild Voyager & Ilora Retreats (Delhi)

Wild Voyager runs wildlife journeys in Kenya and Tanzania with our own guides, vehicles and ground teams. Ilora Retreats is our fourteen-suite tented camp inside the Masai Mara National Reserve.
We're hiring a senior person to own direct guest conversion across both brands.
Our trips are considered purchases at premium value. Guests take weeks to months to decide and compare us carefully. Converting them takes judgement, patience and a genuine feel for what each person is actually asking for.
Experience we need
8+ years selling travel direct to consumers, at least 4 at premium value
A closing record you can quantify — we'll ask for your conversion rate and how you know it
You've improved a funnel, not just worked one. Changed something — the follow-up sequence, the lead sources, the qualification — and can show what it did to the number
A follow-up discipline you can describe. Most bookings at this value land on the fifth to eighth contact.
Comfortable on the phone for extended periods, in English and Hindi
Experience selling in writing to European and North American buyers
Skills that decide it
Reading a guest accurately. Two people send near-identical enquiries and want entirely different things — one needs to feel they've won on price, one needs reassurance, one needs the value laid out plainly. None of them will tell you which they are. This is the skill we are really hiring for.
Persistence, and the ability to make others persistent. Bookings are lost to silence far more often than to a competitor.
Clear written communication with international buyers. Tools help with the polish; they don't help with knowing what to say.
Analytical fluency — conversion by source, cohort analysis, pipeline maths
CRM discipline
Holding a price. We don't discount.
Delhi-based, full-time. Base plus commission on confirmed bookings. Reporting to the founder.
