Freelance UI/UX Designer

Engagement: Freelance, ongoing, no fixed hours. You manage your own time. We're a Singapore team (GMT+8), so you'll need to be reachable for reviews and feedback during our working day.
Who we are
Kuubiik Studio is an integrated marketing agency. We work with ambitious Singapore and APAC businesses, from founder-led companies to regional marketing teams, across finance, technology, skincare, hospitality, F&B and the built environment.
We're curious, opinionated and slightly allergic to "good enough." We care about the wrong shade of red, the campaign that isn't converting and the client question nobody has answered yet. Some of our clients are large and cautious. Others are founders who reply on WhatsApp at midnight. Many have stayed with us for years because we tell them what we think will move their business, even when it's not what they expected to hear.
The role
You'll design and build websites, landing pages and web experiences for our client brands, working with our creative director, designers, copywriter and account team. You'll build the front end yourself with Claude, taking a design from concept to a live page without handing it off.
Some people call this a design engineer. We care more about the design side. Design is what we're hiring for, and code is how you get it live.
We're not looking for someone to turn wireframes into pages. We're looking for someone who gets to know each brand well enough to have a view on it. That means:
Understanding what a client's business is trying to achieve
Spotting where their site is confusing, dated or losing people
Bringing ideas before anyone asks
Arguing for them with reasons
Checking what actually converted
Coming back with the next thing to improve
If you've ever redesigned a page nobody asked you to redesign because you knew the user was getting lost, you'll fit in here.
What you'll do
Design and build websites, landing pages and campaign microsites
Work through the UX first, including user journeys, information architecture and wireframes, before making it beautiful
Build responsive front ends with Claude, and refine them until they match the design pixel for pixel
Carry each brand's visual identity onto the web through typography, colour, layout and motion
Design for conversion: clear hierarchy, strong calls to action, and pages that load fast
Build reusable components and page templates that make the team faster
Work with the copywriter so the words and design are shaped together, not layered on top of each other
Look at analytics and user behaviour, and use them to shape the next iteration
On AI
Claude is central to how you'll build, so we want someone who's genuinely curious about AI tools. Try the new thing the week it drops, find out what it's good at, and bring it back to the team.
Curiosity alone isn't enough, though. AI can produce a working page in minutes, and it usually looks like every other AI-built page. The real skill is knowing the guardrails:
Directing Claude with a clear design intent, rather than accepting its first idea
Holding typography, spacing, colour and interaction to the brand, down to the detail
Checking what it builds on real devices, for accessibility and for performance
Knowing enough code to spot when something's wrong and fix it
What you need
Senior-level UI/UX and visual design experience, with a portfolio that shows real taste
Strong typography, layout and colour instincts
Fluency in Figma, or your preferred design tool, for UX and interface design
A solid grasp of HTML, CSS and JavaScript fundamentals. You don't need to be an engineer, but you should be able to read and correct what Claude writes.
Experience shipping live websites, not just designing them
Agency or multi-brand experience, keeping several brands and deadlines moving at once
The judgment to work independently, and the confidence to disagree well
Nice to have
Experience with Webflow, Framer, WordPress or Shopify
Web animation and micro-interactions
Familiarity with deploying and hosting, for example on Vercel or Netlify
Conversion rate optimisation or A/B testing experience
Familiarity with Singapore and APAC audiences
