Role Summary
The Application Security (AppSec) Engineer is responsible for integrating security into the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) through secure code reviews, application security assessments, vulnerability management, and security advisory activities. The role partners with development, DevOps, and platform teams to identify and mitigate application security risks.
Key Responsibilities
Perform secure code reviews across modern application languages and frameworks.
Conduct application security assessments and security design reviews.
Identify, triage, prioritize, and support remediation of application security vulnerabilities.
Manage and report on application security findings through the vulnerability management lifecycle.
Support the adoption of secure coding practices and AppSec controls within DevSecOps processes.
Collaborate with development and platform teams to improve the security posture of applications and services.
Support security tooling, monitoring, and reporting across cloud and on-premises environments.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date security, operational, and technical documentation.
Skills & Experience
Experience in Application Security, DevSecOps, Cyber Security, or Software Engineering.
Strong understanding of secure coding practices, SDLC, and OWASP Top 10.
Experience with code review, vulnerability management, and application security testing.
Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, and security tooling.
Strong stakeholder management, communication, and documentation skills.

Areas of Responsibility
Requirement Gathering-Conduct requirement-gathering discussions and workshops with internal and client stakeholders to understand functional requirements and convert them into technical requirements in line with project goals.
Feasibility Analysis-Assist in feasibility analysis by reviewing functional documents, noting preliminary constraints, and preparing impact summaries for potential changes.
Solution Design-Contribute to solution design by identifying customisation requirements across multiple modules, basis understanding of functional requirements and its linkage to technical requirements.
Configuration and Customisation-Execute required customizations, apply configuration changes across multiple modules within the existing system and support implementation of business processes.
Technology Harmonisation-Participate in integration design for multiple modules and assess the data flow between multiple applications.
Troubleshooting and optimisation-Analyse performance issues and optimise configurations, queries, or integrations across multiple applications.
Documentation-"Create detailed functional and technical documentation including design documents and process documents."
