Head of Finance

Our client is a regional nonprofit hospital system with $2.8B in net revenue, four acute-care hospitals, an employed physician group of 600 providers, and a growing ambulatory footprint. The system holds strong market share and an investment-grade rating, and is executing a deliberate margin recovery plan.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Head of Finance to lead financial operations across the healthcare system. This role will work closely with the CFO and will play a key role in improving margins, supporting payer strategy, and managing capital planning.
Key Responsibilities
Lead budgeting, forecasting, cost accounting, and financial planning across the system
Drive margin improvement through labor cost management and operational efficiency
Support payer negotiations and value-based contract financial modeling
Lead capital planning for hospitals, ambulatory services, and technology
Support financial planning for the physician group
Prepare financial reports for the Board and rating agencies
Lead and develop a finance team of approximately 120 employees
Improve financial systems, reporting, and analytics
Requirements
10+ years of progressive experience in healthcare finance
Senior finance leadership experience within a multi-hospital healthcare system
Proven experience improving financial margins and reducing costs
Strong understanding of hospital finance, payer mix, labor costs, and service-line profitability
Experience with large-scale capital planning and financial strategy
Strong communication and presentation skills for executive and Board-level audiences
CPA, MHA, or MBA preferred
Compensation
$460,000–$510,000 base salary, positioned at the upper end of the market for system finance leadership, plus a management incentive plan and executive retirement benefits.
