Design Engineer

We are looking for a skilled Design Engineer with hands-on expertise in water and wastewater treatment systems (STP, ETP, WTP, RO, ZLD). In this role, you will be responsible for end-to-end design deliverables, including General Arrangement (GA) drawings, piping layouts, fabrication details, 3D modelling, and Bill of Materials (BOM/MTO) generation. You will work closely with process, estimation, and fabrication teams to ensure projects are executed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with client specifications.
Key Responsibilities
CAD Drafting & 3D Modelling:
Prepare detailed 2D and 3D drawings using AutoCAD and SolidWorks / AutoCAD Plant 3D.
Develop General Arrangement (GA) drawings, equipment layouts, skid designs, and structural/foundation drawings.
Model plant equipment (clarifiers, media filters, UF/RO skids, tanks, pumps, blowers) and create detailed assembly drawings.
Piping & P&ID Execution:
Draft and interpret Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
Route interconnecting piping, skid piping, and generate piping isometric drawings with complete dimensional detailing.
Fabrication & Shop Detailing:
Prepare detailed shop fabrication drawings, manufacturing details, nozzle orientations, and cutting schedules.
Coordinate with production/fabrication teams to clarify design intent, resolve technical queries, and incorporate red-mark/as-built revisions.
Estimation & Commercial Support:
Generate accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) and Material Take-Offs (MTO) for structural, piping, and mechanical components.
Support the estimation and proposal teams with material quantities, technical datasheets, technical proposals, and vendor quotation reviews.
Quality & Document Control:
Review drawings against client specifications, design codes, and site constraints.
Maintain revision control, design registers, and technical submittals throughout the project lifecycle.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Education: B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical or Civil/Chemical Engineering.
Experience: 2 to 5 years of proven design and drafting experience in water treatment (WTP), sewage treatment (STP), effluent treatment (ETP), or Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) systems.
Software Proficiency:
AutoCAD 2D & 3D (mandatory)
SolidWorks or AutoCAD Plant 3D (hands-on modeling experience)
Navisworks (for clash detection, preferred)
MS Office suite (Excel for BOM/estimation tracking)
Technical Knowledge:
Strong understanding of piping standards, valve selections, pump hydraulics, and skid fabrication.
Familiarity with water treatment unit operations (coagulation, filtration, membranes, aeration, sludge handling).
Soft Skills:
Strong attention to detail and dimensional accuracy.
Effective cross-functional coordination (with site engineers, fabrication shops, and procurement).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience handling municipal or industrial turnkey (EPC) water projects.
Exposure to ERP/SAP platforms for BOM entry and project procurement workflows.
