Job Description
We are looking for a dynamic and commercially driven Chartering Manager to join the Chartering team. The role will be responsible for identifying and fixing suitable tonnage, developing and maintaining strong relationships with international shipowners and brokers, negotiating charter party terms, and ensuring commercially sound and timely execution of chartering activities.
Key Responsibilities
Identify, evaluate, and fix suitable vessel tonnage based on trading requirements and commercial objectives.
Focus primarily on the Pacific trade range, with hands-on experience in Panamax tonnage.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with international shipowners, brokers, and other key market participants.
Negotiate and finalize chartering terms, including freight, laycan, demurrage, commissions, and other commercial conditions.
Review and negotiate charter party contracts and ensure commercially appropriate terms are agreed.
Monitor freight markets, vessel positions, tonnage availability, and market developments to support timely fixing decisions.
Coordinate with owners, brokers, internal teams, and other stakeholders throughout the chartering process.
Evaluate market opportunities and assess vessel economics, voyage requirements, and commercial risks.
Maintain accurate records of fixtures, negotiations, market intelligence, and commercial terms.
Ensure smooth handover of concluded fixtures to the relevant operations and post-fixture teams.
Stay updated on global shipping practices, market trends, and developments impacting chartering activities.
Build and maintain a strong network across the international shipping and broking community.
Key Requirements
5+ years of hands-on experience in chartering / ship broking / commercial shipping, with proven experience in fixing tonnage.
Preference for candidates with strong exposure to the Pacific trade range and Panamax vessels.
Well-established relationships and market exposure with international shipowners and brokers.
Strong understanding of charter party contracts, commercial negotiations, and chartering terms.
Solid understanding of global shipping practices, freight markets, and vessel trading patterns.
Strong commercial acumen with the ability to evaluate opportunities and negotiate effectively.
Sharp analytical and numerical skills, with strong attention to detail.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build and maintain long-term relationships with owners, brokers, and other industry stakeholders.
Proactive, commercially minded, and solution-oriented approach.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and highly competitive shipping environment.
