About the Role
We're looking for a Backend Engineer with 1.5–2 years of experience to join our engineering team. You'll work on building and maintaining server-side applications, APIs, and services that power our products. This role is a great fit for someone who has hands-on experience with Node.js and Express, is comfortable working with both SQL and NoSQL databases, and has some exposure to microservices-based systems.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services using Node.js and Express
Work with both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL/MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) databases to design schemas, write queries, and optimize performance
Contribute to and maintain services within a microservices architecture, including service-to-service communication
Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and QA to ship features end-to-end
Use Git for version control, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
Assist with basic deployment tasks and support existing CI/CD pipelines
Debug and resolve issues in development, staging, and production environments
Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving team engineering practices
Requirements
1.5–2 years of professional experience in backend development
Solid working knowledge of Node.js and Express.js
Experience working with SQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB)
Understanding of RESTful API design principles
Familiarity with microservices architecture and how services communicate with each other
Proficiency with Git and collaborative workflows (branching, pull requests, merge conflicts)
Basic understanding of deployment processes (e.g., deploying to cloud platforms, Docker basics, or CI/CD pipelines)
Understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven architecture in Node.js
Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Ability to work well in a team and communicate clearly
Nice to Have
Exposure to Docker and containerization
Familiarity with message queues (e.g., RabbitMQ, Kafka)
Experience with any of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) preferred aws
Basic knowledge of authentication/authorization (JWT, OAuth)
