ABOUT THE ROLE
We're looking for an experienced Compliance Manager to lead the local compliance function for the Portuguese Branch of Trading 212. This role ensures the Branch operates in full compliance with the Portuguese Securities Code (CVM), applicable CMVM Regulations and Circulars, EU MiFID II/MiFIR requirements, and T212’s group-wide compliance framework.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Lead the local compliance function to ensure the Portuguese Branch operates in full compliance with the Portuguese Securities Code (CVM), CMVM regulations, and EU MiFID II/MiFIR requirements.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for CMVM supervisory matters, managing all correspondence, regulatory enquiries, and coordinating on-site inspections.
- Adapt group compliance policies and procedures to Portuguese legal requirements, documenting all divergences for approval by the Head of Compliance.
- Prepare and submit periodic regulatory reports to the CMVM and notify them of significant events or material changes to the Branch’s business model.
- Own and operate the Branch’s client complaints handling framework, ensuring clients can submit complaints in Portuguese and issuing written responses within the 15-working-day statutory timeframe.
- Operate a bifurcated disclosure on the Branch's website and client documents, identifying both the CMVM channel and consumer arbitration centres for alternative dispute resolution.
- Conduct the Branch’s compliance monitoring programme adapted to CMVM expectations, performing desk-based reviews and reporting findings.
- Review all client-facing documentation, marketing materials, and new product launches to ensure compliance with Portuguese language requirements and MiFID II disclosure obligations before release.
WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Economics or any other relevant field.
- At least 5 years of experience in a compliance function within an investment firm, bank, fintech, capital markets entity, or a regulatory/supervisory authority in Portugal; familiarity with MiFID II compliance monitoring and regulatory reporting is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of Portuguese capital markets law (Código dos Valores Mobiliários), CMVM regulations, and applicable EU regulations (MiFID II/MiFIR, Delegated Regulation 2017/565).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work in a high-performance environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

- Excellent writing, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Portuguese language: native or fluent
- English language: professional working proficiency
