About Vegamind Technologies
Vegamind Technologies builds and runs its own software products — fintech, health and hiring tools — on AWS. We are a small product team, which is the point: nothing here is a cog in a 200-person process. The office is at Chennai (TECCI Park).
We are hiring one person to run recruitment and people operations for the group. Today that work is split across whoever has time, which is why it is being given an owner.
The role
You will own hiring end to end and the HR operations that follow it. Most of the hiring is technical — engineers, data, QA, DevOps — so you will spend real time understanding what the roles actually need rather than matching keywords. The rest of the job is making sure the people who join are set up properly and stay that way.
This is a generalist role at a small company. You will not have a team under you and you will not have a process handed to you; you will be building the process. If you want depth in one narrow speciality, this is the wrong job. If you want to own the whole thing, it is a good one.
What you will do
• Own the hiring funnel end to end — intake with the hiring manager, sourcing, screening, interview coordination, offer, and close
• Source across Naukri, LinkedIn and referrals, and build a pipeline rather than restarting from zero each time a role opens
• Screen technical CVs with enough understanding to tell a real match from a keyword match, and brief the hiring manager honestly on both
• Keep candidates informed — including the ones being rejected. How we treat people we do not hire matters here
• Run onboarding: offer and appointment letters, documentation, first-day setup, and the first-month check-ins
• Handle day-to-day people operations — attendance, leave, records, and coordination with payroll
• Keep statutory compliance in order: EPF, ESI, professional tax, Shops & Establishments registers, and POSH policy and committee
• Keep the ATS current so the funnel reflects reality, not memory
What we are looking for
• 2–4 years in recruitment, with meaningful time spent on technical roles
• Enough grasp of a modern stack (React on the front end, Python and Node services on AWS (Lambda, Fargate, Aurora)) to hold a credible first conversation with an engineer
• Exposure to Indian HR operations and statutory compliance — or the appetite to own it quickly
• Clear written English. A large part of this job is writing to people who have a choice about replying
• Comfort working without a playbook, and the judgement to write one
Nice to have
• Experience hiring for a product company rather than a services or staffing firm — the difference in what "good" looks like is real
• Worked with an ATS or HRMS before, or built one in a spreadsheet because there wasn't one
• Tamil alongside English, for local sourcing
How we hire
A short call, then a conversation with the hiring manager about how you would actually run a search, then a closing discussion. We aim to decide within two weeks and we will tell you where you stand at each step.
Location and terms
On-site at Chennai (TECCI Park). Full-time. Compensation will be discussed openly on the first call — we would rather find out early if we are in different ranges than waste three rounds of your time.
