Role Description The Chief Accounts Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Borivali, responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial activities of the Trust. This role includes preparing, reviewing, and finalizing financial statements, maintaining accurate ledgers, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and statutory requirements. The Chief Accounts Officer will manage budgeting, cash flow, and financial reporting, coordinate audits, and implement internal controls. Day-to-day tasks also include supervising accounting staff, handling vendor and donor accounts, addressing financial queries, and collaborating with leadership to support informed decision-making and long-term financial planning.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess strong knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, including experience with financial statements and core finance principles.
Candidates should possess solid analytical skills to interpret financial data, identify trends, and support strategic planning and budgeting.
Candidates should possess effective communication and customer service skills to interact with internal teams, donors, vendors, and auditors professionally.
Candidates should possess proficiency with accounting software and MS Excel, and demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in financial documentation.
Relevant academic qualifications such as a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce; professional certifications (e.g., CA, CMA, CPA or equivalent) are an advantage.
Prior experience in a senior accounting or finance role, preferably within a non-profit or charitable organization, and familiarity with local statutory and tax requirements.
Ability to work on-site in Borivali, manage multiple priorities, lead a small finance team, and uphold high ethical and compliance standards.
