Role Description
We are looking for a QA Engineer to join QX on a contract, remote basis.
You will join an existing team of QA Engineers, but your remit will include helping to shape the QA function at QX.
This role is suited to someone who can take ownership of quality across AI-led applications and digital products. You will be expected to work at pace, adapt quickly, manage multiple priorities and contribute across the full testing lifecycle. This is a hands-on role in a fast-moving environment, so you should be comfortable wearing multiple hats and working closely with developers, product stakeholders and delivery teams.
You will be responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability and usability of AI applications by designing and executing test cases, performing manual testing, using available automated testing tools and supporting quality assurance processes across product delivery.
Day to day, you will identify, document and report bugs, work with developers to investigate issues, validate fixes, support regression testing and help ensure that software meets defined requirements before release.
Key Responsibilities
Own and execute quality assurance activities across AI-driven applications and related digital products
Design, document and maintain clear test cases, test plans and test scenarios
Carry out manual testing to identify defects, usability issues, edge cases and inconsistencies
Use available automated tools to support testing, improve repeatability and increase QA efficiency
Report bugs clearly, including steps to reproduce, expected results, actual results, severity and supporting evidence
Work closely with developers, product stakeholders and delivery teams to investigate, prioritise and resolve issues
Validate fixes and perform regression testing where required
Review requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria to ensure expected software behaviour is testable and understood
Support testing across different devices, browsers, workflows, integrations and user scenarios
Maintain QA standards, processes and documentation
Contribute to release readiness decisions by providing clear, evidence-based quality assessments
Identify opportunities to improve product quality, testing coverage, user experience and internal QA processes.
Skills and Qualifications
Strong understanding of quality assurance processes, software testing principles and QA best practice
Proven experience designing and executing test cases based on requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria
Experience with manual testing, defect identification, bug reporting and regression testing
Ability to analyse software behaviour, identify issues and communicate findings clearly
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail and a structured approach to testing
Clear written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities may change
Ability to collaborate effectively with developers, product stakeholders and cross-functional teams
Familiarity with testing tools, issue trackers and test management platforms
Experience with automation testing or automated QA tools is beneficial
Interest in AI applications, automation and emerging technology is a strong advantage
