About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced and commercially aware In-House Lawyer with 6–10 years of experience in handling civil and criminal litigation matters. The ideal candidate should have strong litigation experience, excellent legal drafting and advisory skills, and the ability to independently manage legal matters from initiation through resolution.
The candidate will be responsible for protecting the organisation’s legal interests, managing litigation and disputes, advising internal stakeholders on legal risks, and coordinating with external advocates and legal consultants where required.
Key Responsibilities :
Civil Litigation
• Independently handle and manage civil litigation matters before appropriate courts, tribunals, and authorities.
• Draft, review, and settle plaints, written statements, applications, affidavits, petitions, replies, appeals, notices, and other legal pleadings.
• Manage matters relating to contractual disputes, recovery proceedings, injunctions, property disputes, commercial disputes, and other civil claims.
• Monitor court proceedings, case status, limitation periods, and important legal deadlines.
• Brief and coordinate with external advocates and law firms whenever required.
• Review litigation strategy and advise management on potential risks, costs, and outcomes.
Criminal Litigation :
• Handle and coordinate criminal complaints, FIR-related matters, investigations, summons, notices, bail matters, and criminal proceedings.
• Liaise with police authorities, investigating officers, prosecutors, and external criminal lawyers as required. • Assist in matters involving fraud, cheating, breach of trust, misappropriation, forgery, cyber-related offences, and other business-related criminal issues.
• Prepare complaints, replies, representations, applications, and other documents relating to criminal proceedings. Advise management on legal risks and appropriate courses of action in criminal matters.
Legal Advisory & In-House Support
• Provide day-to-day legal advice to management and various business teams.
• Identify legal risks in business operations and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
• Review and draft agreements, contracts, notices, undertakings, correspondence, and other legal documents.
• Ensure timely responses to legal notices, regulatory communications, and claims.
• Assist business teams in resolving disputes at an early stage through negotiation, mediation, or settlement where appropriate.
• Maintain and update the organisation’s litigation database and legal records.
• Prepare periodic reports on ongoing litigation, financial exposure, important hearings, and potential liabilities.
• Develop and maintain relationships with external advocates, law firms, consultants, and other legal professionals.
Required Qualifications
• LL.B. / LL.M. from a recognised university or institution.
• 7–10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in civil and criminal litigation.
• Valid enrolment with the relevant Bar Council.
• Strong experience in court litigation, legal drafting, and case management.
• Experience working with a corporate legal department or law firm handling corporate/commercial disputes will be an advantage.
