Role Description The General Manager – Construction will oversee end-to-end project delivery for multiple construction sites in Mumbai in a full-time, on-site capacity. This role includes planning and monitoring project schedules, managing budgets, and coordinating with project managers, site engineers, and external contractors to ensure timely and quality execution. The General Manager will review design and construction plans, ensure adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and resolve on-site operational issues. Day-to-day responsibilities also involve stakeholder communication, including regular updates to senior leadership and clients, contract and vendor management, and risk identification and mitigation. The role requires leading and mentoring construction teams, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvement in project management and site operations.
Qualifications
Proven experience in construction project management, including planning, execution, and monitoring of large or complex projects.
Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to mentor teams, allocate resources effectively, and manage performance.
Solid understanding of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations, and quality control standards.
Experience in budgeting, cost control, and contract administration, including coordination with vendors, contractors, and consultants.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present project status, negotiate, and resolve conflicts.
Ability to work on-site in Mumbai, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and make timely, data-informed decisions.
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field; an advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., PMP, RICS, PMI) is an advantage.
Familiarity with construction management software, scheduling tools, and basic digital collaboration platforms.
