About the Role:
We are seeking a Senior Embedded & Linux Systems Engineer to build real-time, low-latency control software across both microcontrollers and Linux-based compute nodes. You will be responsible for developing low-level C/C++ firmware on Espressif hardware (ESP32-S3 / FreeRTOS) as well as writing Linux system daemons and kernel-level abstractions to manipulate system clocks, power limits, and device operating states under strict real-time constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
Microcontroller Firmware: Design, debug, and optimize low-level C/C++ firmware using ESP-IDF and FreeRTOS on ESP32-S3 boards.
Hardware Interfacing: Implement low-latency serial bus communications (UART, SPI, I^2C, PWM) to interface microcontrollers directly with specialized hardware controllers and hashboard ASICs.
Linux Systems & Driver Integration: Write Linux system services and C-based modules that interface with hardware device abstractions (⁠sysfs⁠, ⁠/proc⁠, ⁠ioctl⁠) and PCIe device management APIs to execute sub-second power and clock frequency throttling.
Real-Time Control Loops: Build asynchronous, non-blocking control loops capable of reacting to external telemetry triggers in under 50 milliseconds without causing system instability or kernel deadlocks.
Hardware Validation: Test and measure real-time power response curves on physical hardware testbenches using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial debuggers.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of professional experience in low-level C/C++ systems engineering.
Proven track record in embedded microcontroller development (ESP32 / ESP32-S3) using ESP-IDF and FreeRTOS.
Strong hands-on experience with Linux kernel-space / driver concepts (LKMs, sysfs interfaces, ⁠DKMS⁠, PCIe power states, system daemons).
Deep understanding of low-level hardware protocols (UART, SPI, I^2C, PWM) and register-level programming.
Ability to work independently with physical test units, logic analyzers, and hardware debugging tools.
Desirable Technical Background:
Experience working with open-source microcontroller firmware repositories or C-based embedded web servers.
Familiarity with Linux GPU driver power-management interfaces (e.g., AMD ⁠amdgpu⁠ sysfs power controls, NVIDIA NVML/driver interfaces).
Prior exposure to open-source hardware projects, custom board support packages (BSPs), or real-time telemetry protocols.
