We are looking for an experienced International Trader for a 12-month assignment with one of our clients in the medical devices and healthcare sector.
The role focuses on building and managing an international sales channel for excess and surplus medical devices and consumables across European markets. This is a hands-on commercial assignment with a clear objective: identify suitable buyers, negotiate transactions and recover value from stock that cannot be moved through regular sales channels.
You will operate with a European/Group-wide mandate and work closely with B2B, Export & Trade, Supply Chain, S&OP, Finance, Quality and Regulatory teams.
The Assignment :
The organisation operates across multiple European markets. Changes in demand, tenders and product ranges can result in stock that requires a dedicated international route to market.
You will be responsible for turning viable stock positions into commercial transactions.
You will :
Build an international buyer network among distributors, traders, brokers, NGOs, humanitarian buyers and other relevant channels.
Assess available stock and prioritise positions with the strongest recovery potential.
Identify suitable routes to market, including direct or bundled sales, auctions, supplier returns and donations.
Personally approach buyers and negotiate pricing, delivery terms, Incoterms and payment security.
Develop opportunities primarily outside the organisation's existing operating markets to protect established commercial channels.
Work closely with Sales, Supply Chain, S&OP, Sourcing, Finance, Quality and Regulatory Affairs to prepare and execute transactions.
Report monthly on pipeline development, completed deals, revenue, value recovered, lead times and risks.
Share market insights that can help prevent recurring excess stock.
You will operate within agreed pricing and approval limits. Every transaction must comply with applicable product, export and distribution requirements, including MDR/IVDR, GDP, shelf life, labelling, UDI, sanctions and supplier restrictions.
Buyer verification and prevention of channel conflict are essential parts of the assignment.
You bring a proven track record of personally closing international B2B trading or export deals. You know how to identify buyers, assess the realistic value of stock positions and move opportunities from initial contact through to completed transactions.
We are particularly interested in candidates with :
At least 5 years of international trading, export or B2B sales experience.
Experience with excess stock, secondary markets, liquidation or distressed inventory.
An established international buyer network that you can activate.
Experience within medical devices, consumables or pharmaceutical distribution.
Working knowledge of compliance requirements related to cross-border sales of medical devices.
Strong negotiation and commercial skills.
Confidence working with item-level data using Excel or BI tools.
Strong analytical and commercial judgement.
Professional fluency in English.
Dutch, German or a Nordic language is an advantage.
