Role Description The Senior Messaging Engineer – IBM MQ is a full-time, hybrid role based in Medellín, with flexibility for partial work from home. The individual in this role will design, implement, and maintain IBM MQ messaging infrastructure to ensure secure, reliable, and high-performing message flows across enterprise systems. Daily responsibilities include monitoring and tuning messaging queues, diagnosing and resolving complex messaging issues, and providing advanced technical support to application and operations teams. The Senior Messaging Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define messaging standards, document configurations, perform capacity planning, and support change management and incident response processes. The role also involves mentoring others on messaging best practices and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in infrastructure and automation.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in enterprise Messaging technologies, with a focus on IBM MQ configuration, administration, and performance optimization.
Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex messaging and infrastructure issues, including root cause analysis and incident resolution.
Experience providing Technical Support for messaging platforms and related services in production environments.
Knowledge of Microsoft Exchange or similar messaging and collaboration platforms, and their integration within broader Infrastructure ecosystems.
Background in infrastructure engineering or systems administration, including networking, security concepts, and high-availability architectures.
Ability to document technical processes clearly and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in or with U.S.-based companies or global teams is an advantage.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Relevant certifications in IBM MQ, messaging technologies, or infrastructure (e.g., IBM Certified System Administrator) are a plus.
