SOC Analyst

Responsibilities
Kforce has a client in need of a SOC Analyst in Long Island City, NY. Responsibilities
Monitor, review, and triage email security alerts within a security operations environment
Perform Tier 1 and Tier 2 analysis of potential security incidents
Investigate security cases, document findings, and determine when escalation is required
Manage an assigned queue of security incidents through resolution or escalation
Follow established incident response procedures, playbooks, and documentation standards
Maintain accurate case notes and ticket updates throughout the investigation process
Partner with senior security team members on incidents requiring additional analysis
Support ongoing improvements to email security and incident response processes
Work within Microsoft-based security technologies, including Microsoft Defender, the Microsoft Security suite, Exchange Online, and the Defender portal
Requirements
1+ years of experience in a SOC, MSSP, cybersecurity operations, or similar security-focused environment
Foundational experience with incident response, security monitoring, or alert investigation
Understanding of email security threats and basic alert triage practices
Experience working with Microsoft Defender and related Microsoft security technologies
Familiarity with Exchange Online and the Defender portal
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate security alerts and determine appropriate next steps
Strong documentation skills and attention to detail
Ability to follow established security procedures while knowing when to escalate more complex issues
Interest in developing deeper expertise in incident response and email security
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
