About the role
You own the technical side of getting a freight brokerage live on Chain, and you stay their technical owner after go-live. That means scoping their workspace, configuring the TMS integration, tuning how our AI agents behave on their freight, and being the person they call when something looks wrong at 7am.
You'll work alongside a Customer Delivery Manager, who owns the relationship and the project plan, and our Senior Technical Solutions Engineer, who leads the novel integrations. We're a small team, so you'll carry your own accounts early rather than shadowing someone for a quarter.
This is not a backend engineering job. You won't ship product code. You will live in field mappings, API payloads, configuration logic, and data that never matches what the customer said it would.
What you'll do
Lead technical scoping for new implementations: workspace structure, tracking configuration, notification logic, agent behavior
Configure TMS integrations end to end, including field mapping, status updates, and tracking provider setup
Run technical kickoff calls and document the configuration decisions you make with each customer
Validate data flow before go-live and through the first weeks of live freight
Stay the technical point of contact after go-live: mapping changes, agent behavior questions, "why did the AI do that," and the occasional unhappy operations manager
Triage issues, fix what you can, and write escalations engineering can act on without a follow-up call
Turn what you learn on accounts into playbooks the rest of the team uses
What we're looking for
You've owned customers after go-live, not just before it. You've been the one accountable when an implementation went sideways.
You know how a brokerage runs: check calls, appointments, rate cons, PODs, detention, and what a dispatcher's day actually looks like.
You're comfortable in systems and data. REST APIs, field mappings, exports, and enough curiosity to trace a problem instead of forwarding it.
You use AI tools daily and you verify what they hand back. Our team debugs with them constantly.
You're self-directed. We have documentation and call recordings, not a training program. People here are on real accounts in week two.
A good portion of your week is customer conversations. If you want mostly heads-down work, this isn't the seat.
Nice to have
Hands-on time in McLeod, Tai, Revenova, Turvo, or Aljex
Postman, SQL, or spreadsheet fluency
About Chain
Chain is the AI execution layer for freight brokers. We automate the work that eats a broker's day: chasing carriers for check calls, updating the TMS, booking loads, and keeping shippers in the loop, so their people can spend time where a human actually matters.
We were founded by former freight operators. We ran trucks and dispatched loads before we wrote any software, which is why the product looks like the floor instead of a whiteboard. Our customers are some of the fastest-growing brokerages in the country, and we're growing quickly alongside them.
Small team, fast decisions, direct access to the founders. If that sounds like your kind of place, we'd love to talk.
