Location: Remote (U.S.-based; primary hub demand in New York, Boston, Chicago, and the Midwest; must work EST business hours)
Work Arrangement: 100% Remote (Candidates open to occasional local in-office days given strong preference)
Contract Duration: January through March/April (Full Busy Season engagement)
Expected Commitment: 40–55+ hours/week (Overtime and weekend availability required during peak delivery windows)
Compensation: Hourly W2 Contract – any hours worked over 40, will be time and a half
About The Engagement
We are actively pipelining experienced external audit professionals for a high-impact winter Busy Season contract with our Big 4 professional services client.
As a Senior Audit Associate, you will integrate into virtual engagement teams within the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) Assurance practice. Engagements encompass a diverse client portfolio ranging from emerging boutique funds to large, tier-one global financial institutions, including hedge funds, private equity funds, mutual funds, and registered investment advisors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day audit execution across complex AWM client engagements, ensuring full compliance with U.S. GAAP, U.S. GAAS, and PCAOB standards.
Perform substantive testing and risk assessments across specialized asset management areas, including investment valuation (Level 1, 2, and 3 assets), portfolio transactions, financial statement disclosures, and fee allocations.
Delegate, coach, and review the work of staff associates across distributed, virtual teams.
Utilize advanced audit analytics, automation, and digitization workflows to process large financial data sets efficiently.
Interface regularly with engagement managers, partners, and client personnel to clear review notes, resolve audit issues, and manage project milestones.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 3+ years of progressive external audit experience within public accounting (Big 4, national, or top-tier regional firm strongly preferred).
Industry Focus: Direct, verifiable audit experience within the Asset & Wealth Management (AWM) sector (private equity, hedge funds, mutual funds, venture capital, or real estate funds).
Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Standards & Regulations: Comprehensive working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, PCAOB regulations, and SEC reporting guidelines relevant to investment companies (ASC 946).
Availability: Ability to commit to 40–55+ hours per week, including peak-period overtime and weekend work through late March/April. Must align work hours to the U.S. Eastern Time zone.
Preferred Qualifications
Active CPA license or active progress toward CPA completion.
Previous Big 4 experience as an experienced associate, senior associate, or contractor/alumni.
Proficiency with digital auditing tools, advanced Excel modeling, Alteryx, Power BI, or similar data automation software.
