Field Engineer / FDE

ABOUT THE ROLE
This is the execution-focused half of a Forward Deployed Engineering function at a fintech startup building global business identity and onboarding infrastructure. You are the technical bridge between customers and the product team, owning implementations end-to-end, from scoping requirements to resolving integration issues in production. The work directly shapes how customers experience the platform and how the product evolves.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Work directly with customers to help them successfully implement and adopt the platform.
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for integrations, onboarding, and product rollouts.
- Scope technical requirements early in the implementation cycle to set customers up for long-term success.
- Troubleshoot integration issues in production environments and guide customers toward scalable solutions.
- Collaborate with product, engineering, and growth teams to identify and reduce friction in implementation flows.
- Improve documentation, tooling, and internal processes to make future implementations faster and smoother.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 4 to 5+ years of experience in customer-facing technical roles such as field engineering, solutions engineering, or technical implementation.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving technical integration issues in production environments.
- Proficiency with Node.js, TypeScript, or JavaScript in production settings.
- Experience working with REST APIs, webhooks, or event-driven architectures.
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar) and data modeling for integrations.
- Experience scoping technical requirements and designing implementation approaches with customers.
- Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce customer-facing API or implementation documentation.
- Experience working cross-functionally with product and engineering teams, influencing the roadmap based on customer feedback.
- Strong domain knowledge in KYB, KYC, AML, or regulated onboarding is the most important signal for this role. Candidates with a background as a Product Owner or Manager in fintech who led onboarding or KYC programs are also actively considered.
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), message queues (Kafka, RabbitMQ), or cloud platforms (AWS or similar) is a plus.
- Background in identity, payments, or fintech more broadly is advantageous.
- Must be available to work within a European timezone.
COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
Base salary range: EUR 93,000 to EUR 146,000, determined by level. The company uses a published leveling system with no individual salary negotiation; everyone at the same level is paid the same. Visa sponsorship is not available.
LOCATION
Fully remote within European timezones. Amsterdam, Netherlands is the primary hub and being based there is a strong plus. The team gathers in person on a regular cadence.
