We currently have an opening for a remote Regional Sales Manager, located in Midewestern US. Preferred home base would be Chicago, IL, Milwaukee, WI, or Minneapolis, MN, but willing to consider other Midwest home bases. This position is critical to the success of our organization and will be supporting regional revenue growth, key account management, and the expansion of market share for our electronic component product lines, while reporting directly to the Director of Sales. The ideal candidate for this position should be a results-driven sales professional with strong technical acumen, a solid understanding of electronic components such as capacitors, resistors, and magnetics, and experience working with OEMs, distributors, or contract manufacturers. Additionally, the candidate should possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, the ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into customer-focused solutions, and a proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a manufacturing environment.
Details of the Role: The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, expanding market share, and managing key customer relationships within an assigned geographic region. This role focuses on selling electronic components to OEMs, distributors, and contract manufacturers while aligning sales strategies with company objectives. The position requires close collaboration with engineering, marketing, and operations teams to ensure customer needs are met with technically sound and commercially viable solutions. During a typical workday, the Regional Sales Manager reviews sales metrics and pipeline activity, communicates with customers and prospects via calls or meetings, and coordinates with internal teams on quotes, product specifications, and order status. Time is also spent developing new business opportunities, preparing proposals, updating CRM systems, and traveling to customer sites or industry events as needed.
Duties And Responsibilities
Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to meet or exceed revenue targets.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within target markets, including industrial, automotive, telecommunications, and consumer electronics sectors.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, distributors, and channel partners.
Manage the full sales cycle, from prospecting and quoting to closing and post-sale support.
Provide technical consultation to customers in collaboration with engineering teams.
Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer feedback to inform sales strategies.
Prepare sales forecasts, reports, and pipeline updates for senior management.
Negotiate pricing, contracts, and terms in alignment with company guidelines.
Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and customer meetings.
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure timely delivery, product quality, and customer satisfaction.
Qualifying Attributes And Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).
5+ years of sales experience in the electronic components or manufacturing industry.
Strong technical understanding of electronic components (e.g., semiconductors, connectors, passive components).
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Ability to build and sustain long-term customer relationships.
Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage a regional territory.
Proficiency with CRM systems and sales analytics tools.
Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned region.
Physical Requirements
Ability to travel extensively (up to 50–70%) by car or air.
Capability to attend trade shows and customer site visits, which may involve standing for extended periods.
Ability to carry marketing materials, product samples, or presentation equipment (typically up to 25 lbs).
Prolonged periods of sitting, working on a computer, and participating in virtual or in-person meetings.
