About the Role
We are seeking a hands-on VP of Software who has built and shipped industrial software that runs in production, on real machines, in real plants. You will build and lead the software organization and the product it delivers, from architecture through release, working directly with the founding leadership team and R&D team across machine physics, metrology, AI, and customer operations to turn our technology into a reliable, deployable, commercial product.
Joining at this seed stage means you will have a foundational voice in shaping the company, the product architecture, and how we deliver software to manufacturing customers. You will not simply manage a backlog; you will define what we ship, how we ship it, and the standard of quality we hold ourselves to.
What You Will Do
Own the Software Product: Define and drive the product strategy, roadmap, and release plan, and be accountable for what reaches customers. You will lead the software and product function while staying technically hands-on in architecture, code, and design reviews.
Ship Production-Grade Software: Turn research and prototypes created by the R&D team into a hardened, supportable product with real release discipline: versioning, testing, documentation, deployment, upgrades, and field support.
Define the SaaS and Deployment Model: Architect how the platform is delivered and licensed across cloud, on-premise, edge, and disconnected plant networks, with the telemetry and update paths each demands.
Own Industrial Requirements and Security: Drive requirements for cybersecurity, data protection, access control, uptime, traceability, and validation, aligned to industrial and customer IT standards.
Run the Development Process: Establish the operating cadence of the engineering organization: agile planning, sprint execution, definition of done, release trains, and honest schedule management.
Lead Customer Deployments and Pilots: Work directly with customers on requirements, pilot installations, and production rollout, and convert what you learn on the floor into product decisions.
Drive Strategic Cross-Functional Leadership: In close interaction with other functional leaders, you will contribute to defining the company strategy, technology and business roadmaps, and comprehensive project plans.
What We Require
Proven Industrial Software Delivery: A solid track record of building and shipping commercial software used in manufacturing, robotics, industrial automation, or comparable industrial environments. You have owned products that customers run every day.
10+ Years of Experience: Deep background in software engineering and product leadership, including time spent building software yourself before leading others who build it.
Real-World Sensing and Machine Data: Direct experience with products built on sensor, metrology, control, or telemetry data from physical systems, and a clear understanding of how messy that data is in practice.
Industrial Requirements and Security: Working knowledge of industrial cybersecurity, on-premise and segmented plant networks, safety and quality expectations, data governance, and the validation and documentation that industrial customers require.
SaaS and Platform Product Leadership: Experience defining and running a software-as-a-service or platform product, including architecture tradeoffs, release management, support models, and commercial packaging.
Software Team Leadership: Proven ability to lead engineers and product managers, set priorities under real constraints, and hold a team to a shipping schedule without losing technical credibility.
Educational Foundation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a related field.
What Will Set You Apart
Industrial Technology Pedigree: Experience at a major industrial software or automation organization (for example Siemens, Hexagon, Microsoft on the industrial and manufacturing side, Rockwell, PTC, Autodesk, or similar), ideally combined with startup experience.
Agile and Scrum Master Credentials: Formal Scrum Master experience or certification, and a demonstrated ability to install a development process that actually holds.
Project Management Discipline: Structured project and program management experience, including PMP or equivalent, applied to multi-team hardware and software programs.
Manufacturing Domain Fluency: Familiarity with CNC machining, CAM, metrology, quality systems, or robotics, and comfort speaking the language of manufacturing engineers on the shop floor.
