Senior Python Developer

Introduction & Summary
We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Python Engineer with over 6 years of experience to join a dynamic team at a Rotterdam-based energy startup. The main objective is to develop a greenfield MVP: an area calculation tool aimed at modeling energy usage, grid congestion, storage necessities, and business cases for local energy communities.
Main Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines in Python.
Work with time series data, including processing 15-minute interval datasets.
Build functional web applications using frameworks like Streamlit or Dash.
Collaborate closely with a technical product owner with extensive experience in the energy sector.
Utilize cloud technologies as per the stack decisions made during development.
Independently manage projects from architecture to go-live.
Implement optimization or simulation models where relevant.
Handle geospatial data visualization and ensure compliance with GDPR guidelines.
Key Requirements
6+ years of experience with Python programming.
Proven experience with pandas and time series analysis.
Experience with web application frameworks like Streamlit or Dash.
Background in cloud computing.
Ability to work autonomously in a startup environment.
Familiarity with optimization, simulation tools, and geospatial data.
Knowledge of GDPR and consent handling related to personal data.
Experience in the energy, utilities, smart meter, battery, or grid sectors is a significant plus.
Nice to Have
Experience with optimization frameworks: PuLP, Pyomo, OR-Tools.
Proficiency in GeoPandas for geodata management.
Other Details
The engagement will start on or before 12 October 2026 and is expected to last until 31 December 2026 with possibilities for extension. The position is fully remote from Poland, with opportunities for travel to Rotterdam during the project kickoff.
