About the Building Construction Company / The Opportunity:
Join a growing building construction team specializing in hospitality projects throughout the United States. This opportunity offers an experienced Traveling Estimator the chance to support hotel renovations, guestroom upgrades, PIPs, rebrands, public-area improvements, capital projects, and ground-up hospitality construction. You will play a critical role in developing accurate project budgets and competitive proposals while collaborating with owners, architects, subcontractors, vendors, and field leadership.
Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed estimates for hotel renovation, hospitality, commercial renovation, and ground-up construction projects.
Review plans, specifications, drawings, scopes of work, and project requirements.
Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work.
Develop conceptual, schematic, budgetary, and hard-bid estimates.
Solicit, evaluate, and level competitive bids from subcontractors and vendors.
Identify scope gaps, exclusions, allowances, risks, and value-engineering opportunities.
Develop labor and material pricing based on project location and current market conditions.
Participate in pre-bid meetings, site walks, property assessments, and owner meetings nationwide.
Prepare bid summaries and final proposal packages, and assist with contract negotiations and project turnover.
Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, market pricing, and regional subcontractor relationships.
Must-Have Skills:
At least 3 years of construction estimating experience preferred.
Experience estimating hotel renovation, hospitality, commercial renovation, or commercial construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction means, methods, labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and specialty drawings.
Strong quantity takeoff, cost-estimating, bid leveling, and proposal preparation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel, along with construction estimating software.
Ability to manage multiple estimates, deadlines, and project requirements simultaneously.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience with Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, OST, or similar estimating platforms.
Background with hotel renovation contractors, hospitality general contractors, design-build firms, or national renovation contractors.
Experience with hotel PIPs, brand conversions, occupied-hotel renovations, and capital improvement projects.
Knowledge of public-area, lobby, restaurant, ballroom, amenity, pool, fitness-center, exterior, ADA, and MEP renovations.
Experience coordinating millwork, casework, flooring, finishes, and FF&E.
Exposure to ground-up hospitality construction and value-engineering processes.
Established relationships with regional subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors across multiple markets.
