Role Description The Principal of Accounting is a full-time, remote role responsible for leading the accounting function across multiple portfolio companies. This role oversees the preparation and review of financial statements, manages month-end and year-end close processes, and ensures accurate general ledger maintenance. The Principal of Accounting will design and refine accounting workflows, implement controls, and support audit and compliance activities. Daily responsibilities include collaborating with strategic finance and advisory teams, guiding junior accounting staff, and translating financial data into clear insights for investors and executive leadership. The role also involves working directly with client stakeholders to understand their business needs, support board and investor reporting, and contribute to the continuous improvement of By Glover’s financial infrastructure.
Qualifications
Strong expertise in financial accounting, including general ledger management, month-end close, and preparation of GAAP-compliant financial statements.
Experience in building and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and policies for growth-stage or portfolio companies.
Background working with private equity, venture capital, or family office–backed organizations, including familiarity with investor reporting and board packages.
Proficiency with accounting and ERP systems, and comfort working with cloud-based financial tools and data management platforms.
Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor accounting teams, manage multiple stakeholders, and operate independently in a remote environment.
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial audiences.
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent professional certification preferred; bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Prior experience in a principal, controller, or senior accounting leadership role, ideally in multi-entity or multi-client settings.
Compensation: $150,000–$180,000 base salary, plus a 5–10% annual performance bonus. Final offer based on experience and technical depth.
