Associate Software Engineer

GrowTal builds artificial intelligence and machine learning products for marketing measurement. Our platform connects a client's marketing and revenue data, measures performance, models what drives outcomes, and reports the results.
The Associate Software Engineer works across the backend and frontend alongside the Chief Technology Officer.
Responsibilities
Take scoped problems from definition through implementation, testing, and release.
Work across the stack rather than within a single layer.
Build and maintain integrations with external marketing and analytics platforms.
Contribute to the parts of the product that call large language models, including handling malformed or incorrect output.
Diagnose failures in a running system.
Write tests and participate in code review as author and reviewer.
Requirements
1 to 3 years of professional experience, or self-directed work demonstrating equivalent capability.
Demonstrated ability to make progress on unfamiliar problems without detailed instructions.
Fundamentals: how a request moves through an application, how data is stored and queried, and how to diagnose a failure from available evidence.
Proficiency in at least one general-purpose language and the ability to become effective in others quickly.
Something you have built yourself with machine learning or artificial intelligence, including calling a model and handling unreliable output. Personal and academic projects qualify.
Fluency with artificial intelligence assisted development, and the ability to explain what any line you submit does, why it is there, and how it behaves on upstream failure.
Version control practice in a shared codebase and constructive response to review.
Clear written communication.

Work you have put in front of real users.
SQL beyond basic queries.
Exposure to cloud infrastructure or continuous integration.
Interest in marketing and advertising data.
