Senior Full-Stack Engineer (Java & React)

About The Role
In this role, you'll build backend services in Java for consumer products used across our Canadian and UK markets, while also contributing to React frontends as part of full-stack feature development. You'll design and own Java services, with some frontend work to help bring those services to life. You'll take ideas from concept to production, working closely with engineers, designers, and product partners to shape how customers experience the platform.
Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain scalable Java-based RESTful APIs and microservices powering our Canadian and UK consumer products
Develop full-stack features end-to-end, connecting Java backends with React and TypeScript frontends
Partner with product managers, designers, and engineers across the organization to shape solutions and align on priorities
Contribute to technical design discussions, weighing trade-offs and proposing approaches for new architecture
Own backend services from initial concept through deployment and ongoing production support
Apply best practices in security, performance optimization, and code quality to keep systems maintainable and highly available
Troubleshoot complex production issues, using observability and monitoring tools to diagnose system health
Share technical expertise through architecture discussions and hands-on mentorship
Requirements
5+ years of production experience building Java, RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems
2+ years of experience building dynamic, responsive interfaces with React and TypeScript/JavaScript
Practical understanding of CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and production service management
Strong problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced, iterative environment
Upper-intermediate level of English or higher for collaboration with international teams
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization tools such as Docker and Kubernetes is a plus
Hands-on experience with server-side TypeScript frameworks such as Remix, Next.js, or Express is a plus
