About the job
We’re looking for an experienced Senior Backend Engineer to join our team and work on the core platform powering our products and services.
This is a backend-heavy platform engineering role focused on building scalable, reliable, and resilient systems used across the organisation.
You’ll work closely with engineering leadership and multiple teams to design and implement platform components, improve automation, and solve complex technical challenges at scale.
Our platform is built around AWS, Erlang, Go, and Kafka, with a strong focus on distributed systems, cloud-native technologies, automation, scalability, and resiliency.
You don’t need experience with all of these technologies. We’re open to strong Senior Backend Engineers coming from different programming backgrounds. What matters to us is solid backend engineering experience, strong system design and distributed systems fundamentals, and a willingness to learn new technologies.

What you’ll do
Collaborate with engineering leadership and teams to design and implement scalable, robust software solutions
Build and enhance core platform components and shared libraries used across the organisation
Improve the platform to enable more business functionality through end-user configuration
Enhance automation across deployment, scalability, and system resiliency
Build on our CloudNative platform and leverage AWS technologies to improve delivery, scale, and reliability
Analyse complex system challenges and drive improvements in architecture, scalability, performance, and platform efficiency
Drive technical initiatives from concept through execution, influencing technical decisions across multiple teams
Work with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify and deliver platform improvements
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that increase engineering productivity and efficiency
What we’re looking for
6+ years of hands-on software engineering experience in large-scale production environments
Strong experience building high-quality, scalable software using an object-oriented or functional programming language
Experience designing and working with distributed systems
Experience building and improving observability and system reliability
Strong understanding of software engineering fundamentals, clean code, automated testing, and continuous delivery
A passion for cloud technologies, automation, scalability, and resilient systems
Experience with or interest in Golang, Erlang, or Elixir
A user-centric and data-driven approach to building and improving software
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently on complex technical challenges
Willingness and curiosity to learn new technologies
Nice to have
Hands-on experience with AWS, particularly services such as CloudFormation, MSK, S3, or Cognito
Experience with Kafka and event-driven architectures
Experience with cloud-native platforms and infrastructure automation
Interest in functional programming
