Crossing Hurdles is a global recruitment firm partnering with a fast-growing, AI-native fintech startup transforming mortgage lending through automation and intelligent workflows.
The company is building a next-generation loan origination platform that uses AI to streamline mortgage processing, automate documentation, and improve speed, accuracy, and efficiency. It serves as a modern operating system for lenders, combining configurable workflows, automation, and data-rich interfaces.
Backed by strong funding and meaningful loan volume, the company is scaling quickly. As frontend and product experience become increasingly critical, they are looking for a design-focused engineer to elevate the quality, usability, and craft of the platform.
Role: Senior/Staff Engineer - Design
Location: Remote (U.S. hours)
Experience: 5+ years in Design Engineering / Frontend Engineering
Platform: AI-native mortgage workflow SaaS
About The Role
Own product experience from Figma design to React/TypeScript implementation
Build clean, accessible interfaces for complex financial workflows
Translate dense requirements into simple UX flows and polished UI
Build and evolve a scalable design system and component library (e.g., shadcn/ui)
Develop production-ready React components with strong accessibility standards
Partner closely with product and engineering to design and ship features end-to-end
Maintain consistency across visual design, interaction patterns, and UI behavior
Operate as a high-ownership IC in a fast-moving, product-driven environment
Requirements
5+ years in Design Engineering or Frontend Engineering
Strong experience with React and TypeScript
Proficiency in Figma (components, variants, auto-layout)
Experience building design systems and reusable UI components
Strong knowledge of Tailwind CSS and modern frontend tooling
Solid understanding of UX, accessibility, and interaction design
Experience with complex B2B SaaS or data-heavy products
Strong portfolio showing both design and frontend execution
Ability to collaborate closely with product and engineering teams
Strong product sense and attention to detail
Startup experience is a plus
AI-native product experience is a plus
