About the Opportunity
Epiq Counsel is seeking a Benefits & Insurance Regulatory Counsel to support a Fortune 500 client on employee benefits and insurance regulatory matters. This role will advise management and operations teams on ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, and benefits and insurance plan matters, and help the business stay current on relevant legal developments.

Our client is a leading national provider of HR, payroll, and workforce solutions. The company is seeking additional legal support for its benefits operations and compliance functions.
Responsibilities
Benefits & Insurance Regulatory Advice
Provide legal and regulatory advice on health insurance matters at the state and federal level.
Counsel business and operations teams on complex ACA, ERISA, and HIPAA issues, translating regulatory requirements into practical business guidance.
Monitor legal and regulatory developments that could affect the business and its benefits offerings and assess their impact.
Benefit Plans, Contracts & Operations Support
Support the company's benefit plans, including related contracts, open enrollment, carrier and broker matters, and the underwriting review process.
Provide legal support for the company's 401(k) plan, including related contracts and compliance issues.
Partner with the benefits operations and compliance groups, anticipating issues early and helping resolve them.
Qualifications
JD and active U.S. law license in good standing.
8+ years of legal experience handling a range of benefits and insurance regulatory matters.
Solid working knowledge of ACA, ERISA, HIPAA, and state and federal health insurance rules.
Strong drafting skills and sound legal and business judgment.
Clear communicator who builds strong working relationships.
Able to manage competing priorities and deliver under tight deadlines.
Analytical, detail-oriented, and highly organized.
Self-directed, with the ability to run matters independently and identify issues early.
