Lead Principal Hardware Engineer

Company Description Esyasoft Landis and Gyr Limited is a technology-focused organization specializing in advanced hardware and electronics solutions for Smart Energy Meters with in-house state-of-the-art manufacturing facility at Joka, Kolkata.
Role Description The Lead Principal Hardware Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kolkata. This role is responsible for leading end-to-end hardware development, from concept and architecture through detailed circuit design, validation, and product release. Day-to-day tasks include designing and reviewing schematics, guiding PCB layout, overseeing prototyping and testing, and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations. The engineer will mentor junior team members, coordinate with cross-functional teams (such as firmware, manufacturing, and quality), and drive design decisions that improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency. The role also involves troubleshooting hardware issues, preparing technical documentation, and supporting continuous improvement of design processes and tools.
Qualifications
Strong foundation in Hardware Development and Computer Hardware, with demonstrated experience in end-to-end product lifecycle.
Expertise in Circuit Design and Electronics Hardware Design, including schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration, and component selection.
Deep understanding of hardware architecture, signal integrity, power electronics, and EMI/EMC considerations.
Proficiency with industry-standard EDA tools and hardware test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, etc.).
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience in leading engineering teams, providing technical mentorship, and driving design reviews and decision-making.
Ability to work on-site in Kolkata and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills, with a focus on safety, reliability, and quality.
Experience in industrial, utility, or embedded hardware products is an advantage.
