Role Description The Security Operations Specialist is a full-time, remote role responsible for monitoring security events, managing alerts, and supporting incident response activities across SAS International’s operational footprint. Day-to-day tasks include working within a Security Operations Center (SOC) environment, reviewing security logs, triaging potential threats, and escalating incidents in line with established procedures. The specialist will collaborate with cybersecurity and network security teams to investigate anomalous behavior, conduct risk assessments, and implement preventive measures. This role also involves preparing clear incident reports, maintaining documentation, and contributing to improvements in security processes, tools, and playbooks. The Security Operations Specialist will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to help ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability of critical systems and information.
Qualifications
Security Operations Center experience, including monitoring, alert triage, and incident documentation.
Strong analytical skills for threat identification, log analysis, and data-driven decision-making.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, security frameworks, and common threat vectors.
Understanding of network security concepts such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and secure network architectures.
Incident response skills, including containment, investigation, remediation, and post-incident review.
Familiarity with security tools (e.g., SIEM platforms, endpoint protection, vulnerability scanners) is beneficial.
Relevant certifications (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CEH, CySA+, or equivalent) and a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or related field are preferred.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively in a remote and multicultural environment.
