Role Description The Precision Metrology and Inspection Consultant role at MechCareer is a part-time, on-site position based in Pune City. The consultant will perform precision measurement and inspection of mechanical components and assemblies using advanced metrology instruments and techniques. Day-to-day tasks include developing and implementing inspection plans, interpreting engineering drawings and GD&T, analyzing measurement data, and preparing clear inspection reports for clients. The role involves collaborating with manufacturing and quality teams, recommending process improvements based on inspection findings, and providing guidance on metrology best practices and standards. The consultant may also support training sessions, assist in selecting appropriate inspection technologies, and contribute to continuous improvement in dimensional quality and compliance.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of precision metrology, dimensional inspection, and use of instruments such as CMM, calipers, micrometers, gauges, and surface measurement tools.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and relevant mechanical standards.
Experience in data analysis, statistical process control (SPC), and preparation of concise technical and inspection reports.
Background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, with practical exposure to quality control and shop-floor inspection processes.
Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and capability to work independently in an on-site industrial environment.
Effective communication and consulting skills to interact with clients, production teams, and quality professionals.
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, or a related field; metrology-specific certifications are an advantage.
Familiarity with CAD software and CMM programming tools, and awareness of safety practices in manufacturing settings is beneficial.
