Role Description
The Academic Counsellor is a full-time, on-site role based at the ITXG campus in Kozhikode. This role involves providing individual and group counseling to students on academic pathways, course selection, and performance improvement. The Academic Counsellor supports learners with career planning, helping them understand industry trends, relevant skills, and opportunities in engineering and technology. Daily responsibilities include conducting counseling sessions, maintaining student records, collaborating with faculty on student support plans, and organizing workshops or information sessions on academic and career development. The role also includes guiding students on educational resources, monitoring progress, and referring learners to appropriate support services when needed.
Key Responsibilities
• Welcome students, parents, visitors and other guests and provide a professional front-desk experience.
• Handle incoming calls, WhatsApp enquiries, emails and walk-in enquiries promptly and courteously.
• Understand and explain the academy’s courses, training programs, eligibility, duration, fees, schedules and career opportunities.
• Counsel prospective students based on their educational background, interests and career goals.
• Generate, record, qualify and follow up on leads through calls, WhatsApp and other communication channels.
• Schedule counselling sessions, assessments, interviews, demo classes and admissions appointments.
• Maintain accurate records of enquiries, follow-ups, admissions and student information using Excel/Google Sheets or CRM software.
• Coordinate with academic and administrative teams regarding batch schedules, course availability and student requirements.
• Support the complete admission process, including enquiry handling, application documentation and enrolment coordination.
• Follow up with prospective students to improve enquiry-to-admission conversion.
• Maintain a clean, organised and welcoming reception area.
• Assist with basic administrative activities, student communication and academy events when required.
Required Skills & Competencies
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in English and Malayalam.
• Strong interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable personality.
• Good listening, counselling and convincing skills.
• Ability to understand student needs and recommend suitable courses.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office, Excel/Google Sheets and email communication.
• Good follow-up, time-management and organisational skills.
• Professional appearance and confident telephone etiquette.
• Ability to work independently as well as coordinate effectively with a team.
Education & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Prior experience in reception, academic counselling, admissions, customer service, telecalling or education/training institutes will be an advantage.
