Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Consultant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Consultant based in the United States.
This is a hands-on consulting opportunity focused on enterprise automation within a mission-critical Department of Defense environment.
You will design, deploy, configure, and operate Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform across complex infrastructure environments.
The role combines automation engineering, Linux administration, security compliance, integrations, and platform troubleshooting.
You will develop reusable automation content that reduces manual effort across provisioning, configuration, patching, and compliance activities.
You will also help establish secure automation workflows, build execution environments, and integrate enterprise development and identity platforms.
The position offers substantial technical ownership while working independently and collaboratively with customer teams.
This fully remote opportunity is suited to an experienced automation professional who holds an active Top Secret clearance and enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges.
Accountabilities
Design, install, configure, operate, and upgrade Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.x components, including automation controller, private automation hub, and Event-Driven Ansible.
Develop, test, maintain, and optimize Ansible playbooks, roles, and custom collections for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, patching, security hardening, and compliance.
Build and manage execution environments using tools such as ansible-builder, and publish and manage automation content through private automation hub.
Establish and maintain integrations with Git-based source control, CI/CD pipelines, credential and secrets management platforms, and enterprise identity providers such as LDAP/Active Directory and SAML.
Configure role-based access control, organizations, teams, inventories, job templates, and other automation controller capabilities.
Develop automation for security hardening and compliance requirements, including STIG, DISA, and SCAP standards across Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Windows systems.
Troubleshoot automation failures, platform issues, integrations, and execution problems while identifying opportunities to improve reliability and performance.
Document platform architecture, operational standards, automation procedures, and technical runbooks.
Train and support customer personnel on automation capabilities, operational practices, and effective use of the platform.
Collaborate with technical stakeholders to identify opportunities to reduce manual processes and expand enterprise automation.
Requirements
5–7 years of professional experience in automation, infrastructure engineering, consulting, systems administration, or a related technical discipline.
Hands-on expertise with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform 2.x, including automation controller, private automation hub, execution environments, ansible-navigator, and ansible-builder.
Strong Ansible development capabilities, including playbooks, roles, custom collections, Jinja2 templating, YAML, and dynamic inventories.
Advanced Red Hat Enterprise Linux administration experience, particularly with RHEL 8 and RHEL 9.
Experience with Git-based development workflows, including GitLab or GitHub, as well as CI/CD pipelines and REST API integrations.
Experience automating security hardening and compliance requirements such as STIG remediation, DISA controls, and SCAP.
Experience working within secure, disconnected, or air-gapped environments.
Scripting proficiency with Python, Bash, or both.
Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform certification is required.
Active Top Secret security clearance is required.
U.S. citizenship is required due to government contract requirements.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities with a methodical approach to resolving technical issues.
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with technical teams and customer stakeholders.
Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage priorities in a technically demanding environment.
