This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Backend Engineer, Foundations based in Brazil.
This is a senior backend engineering role focused on building foundational platform services that support teams across a growing software organization. You will work on critical capabilities spanning identity, authentication, access control, and other shared platform primitives. The role combines hands-on backend development with technical ownership, giving you responsibility for complex components from design through production. You will serve as a technical point of reference within your area while collaborating closely with product and engineering teams. You will also help shape architecture, identify technical risks, and improve engineering practices through mentorship and design reviews. Accountabilities
Serve as a technical expert for a core platform area such as identity, authentication, or access control.
Design, develop, and maintain backend services and shared platform components in collaboration with other engineering teams.
Own complex components throughout the full development lifecycle, from technical design and implementation through production.
Break large initiatives into clear, achievable milestones and proactively communicate progress, risks, and dependencies.
Investigate, diagnose, and resolve challenging technical problems affecting platform services.
Identify technical debt, architectural risks, and potential operational issues before they become larger business or engineering problems.
Mentor other engineers through pairing, code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day technical guidance.
Document and communicate technical decisions clearly through design documentation and team discussions.
Collaborate with Product and engineering stakeholders to align technical solutions with business priorities and product objectives.
Contribute to a culture focused on simplicity, high-quality engineering, clear communication, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
4+ years of professional software development experience, including ownership of complex backend systems.
Strong backend programming experience with Python or Go.
Experience working in Platform Engineering or developing shared services and common platform components.
Demonstrated ability to break complex projects into manageable milestones and deliver effectively against timelines.
Experience mentoring engineers through code reviews, pairing, and technical or architectural design reviews.
Strong fundamentals in Linux and distributed systems.
Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering and product teams and align technical decisions with broader priorities.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges.
Experience incorporating AI into software development workflows and creating or using AI-enhanced development tooling.
Experience with authentication and authorization technologies such as OAuth, SSO, or role-based access control is a plus.
Familiarity with Kubernetes and container orchestration is advantageous.
Experience with network management or infrastructure software is valued.
Open-source contributions or involvement in open-source projects is a plus.
