Job Summary
As our Manager of Accounting & Finance, you'll be the primary relationship owner and trusted advisor for a portfolio of business clients. You'll have full authority, autonomy, and accountability for your accounts. You'll run the accounting engine that keeps their books accurate and on time, and you'll deliver the forward-looking financial insight that helps owners make better decisions. You'll lead and develop a team of accountants and staff to produce high-quality deliverables, and you'll help define the processes, standards, and structure of our growing accounting and finance practice.

Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact and relationship owner for your client portfolio, with full responsibility for service quality, communication, and client satisfaction.
Operate with real autonomy. You make the calls on your accounts, set priorities, and manage client expectations.
Identify opportunities to expand the value we deliver, from cleanup to ongoing accounting to advisory.
Lead, delegate to, and develop team members so deliverables are accurate, on time, and meet a high standard.
Review the teams work product and serve as the final quality check before anything reaches the client.
Own the month-end close process across your clients
Lead new client onboarding: assess the current state of their books, design the chart of accounts and workflows, and set them up for success.
Scope and lead the team through client cleanup and catch-up projects, turning messy books into reliable financials.
Implement and manage class- and location-based accounting and reporting for multi-entity, multi-location, or multi-department clients.
Oversee AR and AP processes, including invoicing, collections, bill pay, and vendor management.
Build and maintain cash flow projections and forecasts that help clients plan with confidence.
Develop business models and scenario analyses to support growth, hiring, pricing, and investment decisions.
Perform financial analysis and margin reviews by product, service line, customer, or location to surface where clients make and lose money.
Lead budget-setting with clients and run budget-vs-actual reviews throughout the year.
Design and deliver clear, owner-friendly management reports and KPI dashboards.
Skills
7+ years of accounting and finance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a manager, controller, or client-lead role.
Background in public accounting, client accounting services (CAS), outsourced accounting/fractional CFO work, or corporate finance serving small and mid-sized businesses.
Deep hands-on experience with month-end close, cleanups, onboarding, and class/location-based reporting.
Proven ability to build cash flow forecasts, financial models, and budgets, and explain them clearly to business owners.
Strong client presence. You're comfortable owning relationships, delivering hard news, and advising owners on decisions.
Experience leading and reviewing the work of others, with a high bar for accuracy.
Proficiency with cloud accounting platforms (QuickBooks Online, Xero, or similar) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
Self-directed and organized, with a track record of thriving in a remote environment.
