Role Description The Chief Engineer at Sunday Hotels in Jaipur is responsible for overseeing all engineering and maintenance operations across the property. This full-time, on-site role includes managing the upkeep of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other building systems, as well as coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance. The Chief Engineer supervises the engineering team, assigns tasks, monitors work quality, and ensures compliance with safety standards and local regulations. Daily responsibilities include inspecting facilities, responding to maintenance requests, managing vendor relationships, controlling maintenance budgets, and supporting projects such as renovations or equipment upgrades. The role works closely with hotel leadership to minimize downtime, enhance guest comfort, and maintain operational reliability.
Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise in hotel engineering and facilities management, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
Experience leading maintenance teams, scheduling work, and managing contractors or service providers.
Strong understanding of building safety codes, preventive maintenance planning, and compliance with local regulations.
Ability to diagnose technical issues, prioritize repairs, and implement cost-effective solutions.
Proficiency with maintenance management tools or software and basic computer skills (e.g., email, spreadsheets).
Solid communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with hotel management and cross-functional teams.
Proven ability to organize workloads, meet deadlines, and respond quickly to urgent maintenance needs.
Diploma or degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, or related field) or equivalent technical qualification; prior experience in hotel or hospitality engineering is highly desirable.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, or holidays, as operational needs require.
