Position Overview
Syntax, a Long Island-based communications firm serving public school districts, is seeking a full-time Graphic Designer to join our team in late October/early November. The Graphic Designer will develop and lay out newsletters, calendars, brochures, guides and other print and digital materials for our clients.
The ideal candidate has strong design and layout skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
*Although the work is remote, applicants must reside in New York State to be considered for the role.*
Responsibilities
Design and lay out newsletters, calendars, brochures, guides and other print and digital publications.
Create graphics and visual content for websites, social media and other communication platforms.
Use Adobe Creative Cloud applications and Canva to develop polished, audience-appropriate materials.
Work from established concepts, mockups and brand guidelines while contributing creative ideas.
Collaborate with managers, account executives and other team members to bring projects from concept through completion.
Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and meet strict production deadlines.
Prepare accurate, print-ready and digital files and make revisions as needed.
Maintain consistency with client branding and design standards.
Qualifications
Three to five years of professional graphic design experience.
Advanced proficiency in Adobe InDesign and working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
Proficiency in Canva.
Strong publication design, typography and page-layout skills.
Ability to work efficiently and accurately under tight deadlines.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong communication, collaboration and time-management skills.
Professional, dependable and comfortable working as part of a team.
Experience designing materials for public education, government or similar clients is a plus.
