About The Role
Heartland Consulting is actively seeking experienced Financial Data Analysts to join our team for anticipated federal contract opportunities. This full-time position offers flexible work arrangements, including remote, hybrid, or on-site options depending on contract requirements. The Financial Data Analyst will play a critical role in supporting financial management activities such as budget execution, financial analysis, reporting, reconciliation, and process automation. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of financial expertise and technical skills, particularly in data visualization, workflow automation, and financial systems. They will collaborate with various stakeholders including budget officers, resource managers, and program managers to ensure accurate financial data analysis and reporting that supports strategic decision-making and compliance.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, data analytics, or a related field (preferred)
Proven experience in financial or budget analysis, especially within federal or DoD environments
Hands-on experience with financial systems such as DEAMS, GFEBS, DTS, Checkbook, or Pegasys
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, financial modeling, and reconciliation techniques
Experience with data transformation and automation tools such as Power Query and Microsoft Power Automate
Proficiency in developing dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI
Knowledge of SQL or Tableau is a plus
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to automate recurring financial and administrative processes effectively
Experience supporting audit readiness and internal control activities
Responsibilities
Analyze financial, budget, and operational data to support management decision-making processes
Track obligations, commitments, expenditures, and execution rates to monitor financial performance
Develop and maintain status of funds, variance analysis, reconciliation reports, and financial tracking tools
Reconcile transactions and identify discrepancies across multiple financial systems and data sources
Create dashboards and reporting solutions to provide visibility into budget execution and financial metrics
Automate recurring financial reports, notifications, approvals, and data collection workflows
Develop financial models and recurring reporting tools utilizing Excel and Power Query
Support financial data validation, reconciliation activities, and internal audit processes
Document financial processes, automated workflows, and reporting procedures for transparency and compliance
Collaborate with stakeholders including budget officers, resource managers, and program managers to ensure data accuracy and reporting integrity
