2. About the Opportunity:
The Field Service Engineer - MidWest is responsible for delivering preventive maintenance, repair, and calibration services on advanced ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical equipment within a designated territory. This role ensures that equipment remains reliable and precise in clinical settings by providing expert technical support directly at customer locations. The position contributes to maintaining the organization’s standards and customer satisfaction through high-quality field service.
3. Responsibilities:
Independently plan, schedule, and perform maintenance, repairs, and calibration on instruments and accessories in assigned territory
Troubleshoot ophthalmic instruments according to established procedures
Interpret prints and schematics to repair and calibrate equipment
Perform soldering and use diagnostic tools and multi meters as required
Communicate with eye care professionals and facility staff
Educate end users on maintenance and product use
Prepare and file maintenance, repair, and inventory documentation accurately and promptly
Maintain spare parts inventory for travel
Coordinate visits with customers, sales representatives, and internal teams to ensure proper scheduling and completion
Operate PC hardware and Microsoft software
Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Perform other duties as assigned
4. Requirements:
Associate’s degree in precision mechanics, mechanical, electronics, or biomechanical engineering, or equivalent experience
Minimum of 3 years of mechanical or electromechanical instrument repair experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Detail-oriented with a focus on work accuracy
Ability to work independently and plan tasks
Proficient in math and clerical tasks
Ability to travel extensively for multiple weeks
Good oral and written communication skills in English
Self-motivated and professional in interactions
Basic computer skills including Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word
Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to obtain a passport for overseas training
Ability to complete vendor credentialing for hospital access
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
The pay range and compensation package for this role will be determined based on the candidate’s experience, skills, and other relevant factors.
