Role Description The Vice President of Business Development is a full-time, remote role responsible for driving strategic growth and partnerships for the organization. This position oversees the identification and evaluation of new business opportunities, including collaborations that expand the program’s reach, impact, and funding. The role involves developing and refining business plans, leading contract negotiations, and guiding sales strategies aligned with organizational goals. The Vice President will build and maintain key relationships with institutional partners, donors, and stakeholders, and will provide leadership to the business development team through performance management, goal setting, and cross-functional collaboration with program, finance, and communications teams. The role also includes monitoring market trends, reporting on business development metrics, and recommending strategic adjustments to sustain long-term growth and effectiveness.
Qualifications
Demonstrated skills in New Business Development and Business Planning, with experience creating and executing growth strategies.
Strong capability in Contract Negotiation, including structuring agreements and managing complex stakeholder interests.
Proven experience in Sales and Account Management, with a track record of building and retaining high-value relationships.
Leadership experience managing cross-functional teams, preferably in education, philanthropy, nonprofit, or international development settings.
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and partners globally.
Strategic and analytical mindset, including proficiency in using data and market insights to guide decisions and measure impact.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, International Relations, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA or equivalent) is an asset.
Experience working in or with organizations focused on Africa, climate resilience, sustainability, or global education initiatives is highly beneficial.
